Alec Prokop is a certified addiction counselor with over five years of experience helping individuals and families navigate the challenges of substance use disorders. Beginning his career working with the Step 2 program, he developed a strong foundation in addiction treatment, supporting clients in their journey toward recovery.
Over the past three years, he has specialized in working with young adults aged 18-25, focusing on both individual therapy and family support to address the unique struggles this age group faces when dealing with addiction.
Having personally experienced the transformative power of sobriety, Alec got sober at the age of 20 in Atlanta, Georgia, which gives him a deep, personal understanding of the difficulties faced by those in early recovery. His lived experience allows him to connect with clients on a more empathetic and authentic level, offering them not only professional expertise but also a sense of hope and possibility. His passion for helping others stems from his own journey and the support he received along the way, which fuels his dedication to his work.
Outside of his professional life, Alec is happily married and enjoys spending quality time with his friends and loved ones. He is also an avid golfer, finding balance and relaxation on the course. This commitment to maintaining a healthy and fulfilling personal life enriches his work, allowing him to bring a well-rounded and grounded approach to his counseling practice.
